When booking in Burgas costs the least

The cheapest month is September, when the sea is still warm and the post-holiday crowds thin out, with rates falling by around half against the peak. It is priciest in high summer, in July and August, when beachgoers head to the Black Sea. The day of the week matters a lot: Monday works out the cheapest, Thursday the most expensive, and the gap can be twofold. For the summer season it pays to book ahead, as the best beachfront hotels go first, while out of peak there is plenty of choice. Where to stay in Burgas

The city is fairly compact and easy on foot in the centre. It is most convenient to stay in the centre, by the pedestrian Aleksandrovska Street and the Sea Garden park, close to restaurants, the town beach and the pier. A quieter alternative near the coast is the Lazur district, and if you want the beach on your doorstep and to be near the airport, pick seaside Sarafovo. Burgas is a base for a beach holiday and touring the coast: a walk through the Sea Garden to the water, mud baths by the pink Atanasovsko salt lake, the pier and the Cathedral of Saints Cyril and Methodius, and further afield trips to Nessebar, Sozopol or the Ropotamo reserve. You get around town on foot and by bus, and Burgas Airport sits right next door, by Sarafovo.

When Burgas gets expensive

The price peak is summer, and rates are highest in July and August, when beachgoers pour onto the Black Sea and the beachfront hotels fill up. It is cheapest and quietest in September, when the sea is still warm and the crowds ease, and in May at the start of the season. A very good compromise is spring and early autumn, with milder weather and fewer crowds than at the height of summer. Across the week, Thursday is the priciest day, while arriving on a Monday tends to be noticeably cheaper. For the holiday peak it pays to book early, as the best hotels by the sea go first.
