It is most expensive and busiest in summer, especially in August, when the most tourists and visitors from across the border arrive. Prices also rise for major events such as the Szczecin Music Festival and for trade fairs and conferences. Sightseeing is easiest from the Old Town, near the Pomeranian Dukes' Castle, the Royal Gate and the Oder boulevards, where there are also the most apartments and restaurants. The centre is more business-oriented but has the best transport links and the most chain hotels.
For a business trip the best options are the business and conference hotels in the centre, near the station, offices and downtown, with meeting rooms and parking, such as Hotel Dana Business & Conference. From here the main streets and transport are close, and Tuesday is usually cheaper than Wednesday.
Two or three days are usually enough for relaxed sightseeing, just right for the Old Town, the Pomeranian Dukes' Castle and a walk along the Oder. For a longer stay it is easy to add a trip to the parks, Lake Dąbie or the Bukowa Forest.
Szczecin is well connected by road, rail and air, and the nearest airport is Szczecin-Goleniów. Around the city itself a tram or bus is easiest, and a day pass pays off if you visit several places.
