Hotels in Yaoundé: prices and the best time to book
Yaoundé is the capital of Cameroon, a city spread over hills at about seven hundred metres, which gives it a mild, temperate climate all year round. Life splits mainly between the diplomatic district of Bastos, home to embassies, residences and upscale hotels, and Centre-Ville, the core with government offices, museums and markets. The city blends colonial and modern architecture and has national museums, a basilica and green spaces. Prices move with the dry and rainy seasons, and the gaps can be clear. This list holds 676 properties, from budget guest houses and apartments to mid-range hotels and five-star places. Below you will find the dates when rates drop, prices by property type and specific addresses with prices.
When booking in Yaoundé costs the least
The cheapest month is August, in the middle of the rainy season, when rates drop by about a fifth. It is dearest in March, when the city is busiest and prices rise by about a quarter. Across the week Saturday works out cheapest and Friday dearest, as Yaoundé is a business and administrative city and most guests arrive on weekdays. Thanks to its highland setting the weather is mild whatever the season, with temperatures in the mid-twenties. For that period and around the holidays, book earlier, and compare several dates for the best price.

Where to stay in Yaoundé
For a first visit two parts of the city are the handiest. Bastos is the diplomatic district with embassies, quiet and the most prestigious, with upscale hotels and restaurants. Centre-Ville, the core, puts you close to government offices, museums, markets and the main station. Many properties measure the distance to Yaounde Central Station, which shows well how close to the centre they are. Otherwise accommodation is spread across the city, including further out where it is cheaper. You get around Yaoundé mostly by taxi and ride-hailing apps, and local buses run too.
