Hotels in Timişoara: room prices and when to book
Timişoara sits in western Romania and is known for its Baroque and Secessionist architecture, Union Square, the Art Museum in a former palace and the greenery along the Bega River. It is often called the city of flowers, and its historic centre is best explored on foot. Guests stay in apartments right in the centre, boutique hotels in the Old City and larger hotels with conference facilities. Our list covers 951 properties. Below you will find real nightly rates, the cheapest dates and a few pointers on where to stay.
When to book for the lowest price
Spring is the cheapest time: in April rates drop by roughly half against the yearly average. Autumn is the most expensive stretch, with October drawing festival crowds and prices that can run more than twice the spring level. Across the week Wednesday is the cheapest day and Sunday the priciest, as weekend stays wrap up. The tourist season itself peaks in summer, between June and August. For a specific date tied to a fair or concert, book ahead, ideally around two months before you arrive.

Where to stay in Timişoara
Most properties cluster around Union Square and the very centre, where apartment stays dominate and where most sightseers base themselves. The Old City has intimate boutique hotels such as the Opera Hotel and the ATLAS Hotel. The quieter Iosefin district, with its historic churches, lies a little further out. Traian Vuia airport is a short ride from the centre.
Which hotel suits whom
- For couples. The most popular room type here leans romantic. Boutique hotels in the Old City, such as Casa del Sole or Cosmopolita Boutique, work well for a short trip for two.
- For families. Larger hotels with family rooms, like the North Star Continental Resort or Hotel Timişoara, offer space for children and easy facilities.
- With breakfast and for business. Chain hotels in the centre, such as Mercure or ibis Timisoara City Center, combine breakfast, a good location and quick access to conferences.
- Near the airport. If you have an early flight from Traian Vuia, pick a property on the eastern side of the city for a short transfer.
