Hotels in Corfu Town: prices, timing and areas
Corfu Town is the capital of the Ionian island of the same name, with a historic Old Town listed by UNESCO, where the Venetian, French and British past meets on the Liston arcade and below the walls of two fortresses. It is the handiest base for combining sightseeing in town with trips to the island beaches, from Glyfada to Palaiokastritsa. Guests stay four to six nights on average and move between the narrow lanes of the old town, the seafront promenade and the bus stops that reach the whole island. This list has 1 006 properties, from a room in an old townhouse to a hotel with a sea view. Below is what really drives the price of a stay: the season, the day of the week and the area.
When to book a stay in Corfu for less
The price is driven by the island beach season. Summer is the priciest, at its peak from June to August, when the temperature reaches thirty degrees and Corfu fills with holidaymakers. Then rates can climb by almost a third above the average. It is cheapest in winter, around December, when tourist traffic dies down and prices fall by as much as two thirds. Quieter and still warm are the shoulder seasons, spring and early autumn. The day of the week matters a lot too: Thursday works out cheapest, at around EUR 130 a night on average, while Monday is dearest, when rates can be many times higher. For a summer stay, book ahead, around three months, as the best properties in the Old Town go first.
What a stay costs by property type
The spread of prices in Corfu is wide, so a room in an old townhouse and a five-star hotel with a sea view are worlds apart. The cheapest sleep is in simple rooms and two-star guesthouses; you pay the most for premium properties on the coast. Below are indicative nightly rates.

Where a stay is cheaper and where it costs more
The handiest and most atmospheric area is the Old Town, a tangle of narrow lanes between two fortresses, with the Liston arcade, restaurants and shops within a walk. Here the properties are the most sought-after and fill the fastest. Slightly quieter and cheaper is the newer part of town, away from the historic core, from where the old town is still walkable and the Corfu Bus Company buses reach the beaches and the rest of the island. The cheapest rooms are in simpler properties away from the waterfront. Near Mon Repos and Ioannis Kapodistrias Airport suits those who want the shortest hop from plane to bed.
Which stay in Corfu suits whom

- For families. Properties with family rooms and apartments with a kitchenette, near the bus stops. Easy to mix sightseeing in town with a day on the beach.

When Corfu costs more
Summer is the priciest, roughly June to August, when the island hits its peak and the beaches and Old Town are full of holidaymakers. Prices also climb around the Feast of St Spyridon, the island patron, held in August, and the earlier Corfu Carnival with its colourful parades. On these dates the properties in the Old Town go up and fill the fastest. The quietest and cheapest time is winter, around December, when tourist traffic dies down and the town belongs to its residents.
