Hotel prices in Podgorica and when to book cheapest
Podgorica is the capital of Montenegro, set where the Ribnica meets the Morača, with a mix of Ottoman-era and modern architecture. It is above all a business and transit city, a gateway to Skadar Lake, so stays here are chosen by business travellers, people on their way to the coast and sightseers. We list 840 properties, from a room around 40 EUR to a five-star hotel in the centre. Below you will find rates by property type, the cheapest timing and a few real examples with prices.
When to book cheapest
The cheapest time to stay is outside the summer, in winter from December to February and in early spring, when rates can drop by tens of percent against the peak. It gets most expensive and busiest in summer, from June to September, when temperatures reach 25 to 30 degrees and holiday traffic passes through the city towards the coast and Skadar Lake. Spring and autumn are the sweet spot: warm, cheaper and quieter. Across the week Tuesday is the cheapest and Thursday the most expensive. Business travellers usually stay a few nights, so for that length compare the price for the whole stay.

Where to stay in Podgorica
We do not give hard prices by district, as they depend on the individual property, but the areas differ in character. The new centre, around Park Njegoš and the Millennium Bridge, holds most of the chain and business hotels, near the offices, restaurants and bus stops. The Stara Varoš old quarter across the Ribnica, with its mosque and narrow lanes, has more atmosphere and smaller properties. By the river and on the edges it is quieter and cheaper, but further from the centre. The city is compact, so most stays are within a walk or short drive.
Which hotel suits whom
- Business. Chain hotels like the Crowne Plaza or Hilton in the new centre, near offices and restaurants, with meeting rooms and a quick run from the airport.
- In transit. Properties on the main roads and nearer the station, handy for a single night on the way to the coast or Skadar Lake, often with parking.
- Budget. Private rooms and cheap apartments start around 40 EUR a night, most of them outside the very centre.
- Sightseers. Small hotels in Stara Varoš, near the mosque, the Church of the Holy Heart and the museums, for those combining the city with trips around.

When Podgorica gets pricier
It gets busiest and most expensive in summer, when holiday traffic passes through the capital towards the Montenegrin coast and the heat peaks. Prices also rise for conferences, trade fairs and local events such as the Podgorica Carnival. A stay outside high summer and an early booking are the simplest way to avoid these dates.
