Accommodation prices in Kahana and when to book cheapest
Kahana is a resort area on the west coast of Maui, Hawaii, between Kaanapali and Kapalua. Staying here is different from a city trip, as the offer is mostly oceanfront condo apartments and large resorts along Kaanapali beach. It is a pricey destination, so rates start higher than in a typical town. We list 876 properties. Below you will find prices by type of stay, the cheapest timing and a few real examples with prices.
When to book cheapest
It is cheapest in December, when rates fall well below the peak. January is the most expensive, around the turn of the year, when the most guests escape to Hawaii from the northern winter. Saturday tends to be the best value day of the week, while midweek costs the most. West Maui is a year-round destination, but winter holds the highest prices. Booking ahead, especially for the turn of the year, usually beats a last-minute decision.

Where to stay in Kahana
We do not give hard prices by area, as they depend on the individual property, but the character differs clearly. Kahana itself is mostly oceanfront condo complexes, with a pool and water views, handy for a longer stay with your own kitchen. To the south, towards Kaanapali, runs a strip of large resorts on a wide beach, with full service, a spa and restaurants. To the north lies quieter Kapalua with golf courses and D.T. Fleming beach. Napili Bay and Honokowai beach are close by as well.
Which stay suits whom
- Families. Condo apartments with a kitchenette and a pool, often with two bedrooms, handy for a longer island stay.
- Couples. Intimate hotels on Napili Bay and ocean-view apartments, quieter than the big resorts.
- By the beach. Resorts on the Kaanapali strip give the shortest walk to the wide beach and full holiday service.
- Higher standard. Luxury resorts in Kapalua, with golf courses and a spa, are the top tier on this coast.
