Hotels and larger venues take cards, but at markets and on transport cash is better. ATMs are in the cities.

In winter, Bethlehem and its surroundings get crowded and pricier over the Christmas period, when pilgrims arrive.
The Palestinian Territories have no operating passenger airport, so travellers arrive via neighbouring airports, usually completing the trip overland. Across the West Bank, shared vans known as service and intercity buses run, while within cities there are taxis and minibuses. Distances are short, so cities like Bethlehem, Ramallah and Jericho are easy to combine in one trip. Expect checkpoints along the way.
The offer is mainly mid-range hotels and guesthouses. The most properties are in Bethlehem, where prices start from about ₪160 a night and the choice grows as the pilgrimage season nears. Ramallah has more modern city hotels, while in Jericho and Hebron intimate guesthouses and family-run places prevail.
Rates are usually lowest outside the pilgrimage peak, away from the Christmas period in Bethlehem and the main religious holidays. Spring and autumn combine good weather with reasonable prices. Booking ahead helps you find a better rate.
The most popular destination is Bethlehem, with the Church of the Nativity, so it has the most hotels and guesthouses. Ramallah, Jericho and Hebron follow.
The highest rates are in Bethlehem during the Christmas season and at the modern hotels in Ramallah. Cheaper stays are guesthouses and smaller cities like Jericho or Hebron.
The main currency in circulation is the Israeli new shekel (ILS). US dollars and Jordanian dinars are also accepted in many places. Hotels and larger venues take cards, but cash is handy day to day.
