When is the best time to visit Nepal

The best conditions for trekking are in spring, from March to May, and in autumn, from September to November, when the sky is clear and the views are at their best. April tends to be the most expensive. January is the cheapest, but it is freezing at altitude. The monsoon from June to August brings rain and reduced visibility.

Getting to and around Nepal

International flights use only Tribhuvan Airport in Kathmandu, with routes from Bangkok, Hong Kong and Mumbai among others. You can also enter by land from India (including the Sonauli crossing) and from China. Long-distance buses serve the country, with the Kathmandu to Pokhara route taking about 8 hours and costing around Rs 700. Cities use microbuses. Domestic flights link the capital with Pokhara, Lukla and other towns. Self-driving is not recommended, but you can hire a car with a driver.
