The price depends on the standard, the place and the dates. The table shows indicative nightly rates for a double room. It is cheapest in March and priciest in August and at the peak of the winter season. Apartments can be cheaper than hotels.
| Property standard | Indicative price per night (from) |
|---|---|
| Guesthouses and budget stays | from approx. 38 € |
| 3-star hotels | from approx. 75 € |
| 4-star hotels | from approx. 120 € |

The choice of where to stay revolves around the capital, the southern beaches and the coasts. These are the destinations travellers choose most often:
Nightly rates vary between places. Here are indicative prices per night for a double room:
| Place | Indicative price per night (from) |
|---|---|
| Fort-de-France | from approx. 75 € |
| Les Trois-Ilets | from approx. 82 € |
| Sainte-Anne | from approx. 90 € |
| Sainte-Luce | from approx. 78 € |
| La Trinite | from approx. 70 € |
The island combines beaches, volcanic mountains and a French-Caribbean culture.
Beyond the room, the island is expensive for the Caribbean. A cheap meal is about 10 €, a nicer one about 30 € per person. The currency is the euro, and cards are accepted in hotels and larger venues. A long-distance bus costs from a few euros. Some cash is handy in smaller places.
The dry season from December to April is nicest and most expensive. Summer can be humid, and the hurricane season runs roughly from June to November. March combines good prices with good weather, while August is among the most expensive months.
Martinique is a French territory, so the same entry rules apply as for France. Direct flights are served by Air France from France and American Airlines from the USA and Puerto Rico, among others. Around the island a car is the easiest way to get about, with buses between towns and small ferries across the bay to Fort-de-France.
A few recognisable properties from different places for reference:
Prices are lowest in March, and generally outside the peak of the winter season. They are highest in August and over the year-end. Booking ahead usually helps you find a better rate.
The most common choice is the Fort-de-France and Les Trois-Ilets area and the south of the island with the beaches at Sainte-Anne. They offer the widest choice of stays.
The highest rates are at the resorts by the best southern beaches at peak season. Apartments and smaller towns are cheaper.
Martinique is a French overseas territory, so the rules are the same as for entering France. Travellers from many countries, including the European Union, do not need a visa for a short stay. The exact rules depend on your citizenship.
