Book a transferSaint Martin is the French, northern half of a Caribbean island, with beaches, cuisine and the feel of the French Antilles. You stay here in boutique hotels, resorts and beachfront apartments. We list 782 properties across 15 places. Below you will find indicative prices, the most popular destinations, season tips and transport notes.
The price depends on the standard, the beach and the dates. The table shows indicative nightly rates for a double room. It is cheapest in July and priciest in February, the height of the winter season. Prices are higher than in most of the Caribbean.
| Property standard | Indicative price per night (from) |
|---|---|
| Guesthouses and budget stays | from approx. 58 € |
| 3-star hotels | from approx. 105 € |
| 4-star hotels | from approx. 185 € |
| 5-star hotels and resorts | from approx. 340 € |
Indicative rates, updated periodically. For exact prices and availability, select your dates in the search above.
The choice of where to stay revolves around the beaches and seaside towns. These are the destinations travellers choose most often:
Nightly rates vary between places. Here are indicative prices per night for a double room:
| Place | Indicative price per night (from) |
|---|---|
| Grand-Case | from approx. 105 € |
| Baie-Orientale | from approx. 120 € |
| Marigot | from approx. 96 € |
| Anse Marcel | from approx. 140 € |
The island combines beaches, cuisine and a French feel in a small area, easy to drive around in a day.
Beyond the room, the island is expensive for the Caribbean. A restaurant meal is usually several dozen euros. On the French side the currency is the euro, and cards are widely accepted in hotels and restaurants. Cash is handy in smaller venues and at markets. ATMs are in the main towns.
The high season is winter, from December to April, when the weather is nicest and prices highest (peaking in February). Summer is cheaper but also the hurricane season, roughly June to November. May and November offer the best balance of price and weather.
The island is split into a French side (Saint Martin) and a Dutch side (Sint Maarten), with no border control between them. Most international flights land at Princess Juliana Airport on the Dutch side, from where you reach the north by taxi or rental car. The smaller Grand-Case airport handles regional flights. Around the island, a car is the easiest way to get around, and local minibuses also run.
A few recognisable properties from different beaches for reference:
Prices are lowest in July, in the middle of summer. They are highest in February, at the peak of the winter season. May and November combine lower prices with good weather, and booking ahead usually helps.
The most common choice is Grand-Case, famous for its beach and food, along with Baie-Orientale, home to the island's best-known beach.
The highest rates are at the luxury resorts in quiet bays such as Anse Marcel. Guesthouses and smaller hotels in Marigot are cheaper.
Saint Martin is a French overseas territory. Travellers from many countries, including the European Union, do not need a visa for a short stay. Entry is usually via the Dutch side of the island. The exact rules depend on your citizenship.
