High-speed trains connect Hong Kong with Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Beijing and Shanghai, while buses and ferries reach Macau and mainland cities. On the ground the MTR metro rules, with a ticket from about HK$5 to HK$55 depending on distance. There are also historic double-decker trams at a flat fare of about HK$2.60, plus buses. The easiest way to pay is the Octopus card. Traffic drives on the left, and renting a car rarely pays off.
