Book a transferThe Faroe Islands are eighteen green islands in the North Atlantic, cliffs full of puffins and waterfalls dropping straight into the ocean. The choice of stays is small and pricier than on the mainland. We list 356 properties across 58 cities. Below you will find indicative prices, the most popular destinations, season tips and transport notes.
The price depends on the standard, the city and the dates. The table shows indicative nightly rates for a double room. The cheapest month is usually January, while December is the priciest. A Thursday booking is often cheaper than midweek.

The main draw is the raw nature of the North Atlantic, most accessible in summer.
Food and services are expensive. A meal at a standard restaurant is about $30-45. Cards are accepted in most shops, but cash is handy in remote villages. Car rental starts at about $73 per day, and a subsea tunnel toll is about $19.50.
The best time is May to September, when it is warmest (about 9-13°C) and the days are long. November tends to be the cheapest and December the most expensive. The weather changes fast, and summer fog can delay flights, so keep an eye on airline notifications.
The only airport is Vágar, served by Atlantic Airways and SAS, with direct routes from Copenhagen, Paris, Edinburgh and Keflavík among others. A year-round ferry runs from Hirtshals in Denmark and takes about 30 hours. Blue intercity buses cover the country, while in Tórshavn the red city buses are free. Subsea tunnels link the islands with a toll of about $19.50, and ferries connect the islands. A 7-day tourist travel card for about $90 covers buses and ferries.
A few recognisable properties for reference:
Prices are usually lowest in January and November, while December is the most expensive. A Thursday booking is often cheaper. The accommodation base is small, so it is worth booking ahead.
The most popular destination is the capital, Tórshavn, with the best hotels and free city transport. It is the natural base for exploring the islands.
The highest rates are in Tórshavn at peak season. Smaller towns and the off-season are cheaper, especially the winter months outside the holidays.
The Faroe Islands belong to Denmark, and entry follows the same rules as for mainland Denmark. Travellers who do not need a visa for Denmark do not need one here either. The exact rules depend on your citizenship.
