Book a transferFiji is over 300 islands, white beaches and coral reefs in the Pacific. The choice is wide, from simple stays to luxury island resorts. We list 695 properties across 102 places: from budget stays to 5-star hotels. Below you will find indicative prices, the most popular destinations, season tips and transport notes.
The price depends on the standard, the island and the dates. The table shows indicative nightly rates for a double room. The cheapest month is usually May, while March is the priciest. A Sunday booking is often cheaper than the start of the week. Luxury resorts on private islands cost many times more.
| Property standard | Indicative price per night (from) |
|---|---|
| 2-star hotels and budget stays | from approx. $35 |
| 3-star hotels | from approx. $70 |
| 4-star hotels | from approx. $130 |
| 5-star and premium resorts | from approx. $280 |

Fiji splits into the air gateway, the capital and the resort islands. These are the destinations travellers choose most often:
Nightly rates vary between places. Here are indicative prices per night for a double room:
| Place | Indicative price per night (from) |
|---|---|
| Nadi | from approx. $80 |
| Suva | from approx. $45 |
| Denarau Island | from approx. $250 |
| Malolo Island | from approx. $200 |
| Lautoka | from approx. $37 |
The islands combine reefs, rainforest and local traditions, so it is easy to match a trip to what you are after.
Beyond the room, daily costs are moderate. A cheap meal is about $4.60, and a meal at a nicer restaurant around $14. A short bus ride costs next to nothing. Cards work in larger hotels and venues, but cash is the most accepted. Car rental starts at about $49 per day.
The best time is the dry season, from May to October. It is technically winter on the islands, but days are still warm and humidity is lower. May tends to be the cheapest and March the most expensive. The wet season from November to April brings more rain and higher humidity, though it can still be sunny.
Flying is the most common way to arrive, and Fiji has two international airports, in Nadi and Suva. The national carrier Fiji Airways flies nonstop to over 20 destinations across the Pacific, the USA, Asia and Australia. Ferries run between the islands, including South Sea Cruises, while Fiji Link and smaller operators fly across the archipelago, some by seaplane. Buses cover the larger islands cheaply, though slowly, so allow extra time. Car rental needs a licence from an English-speaking country or an international permit.
A few recognisable properties from different places for reference:
Prices are usually lowest in May and highest in March. A weekend booking is often cheaper. The dry season from May to October is the best time to travel.
The most searched destination is Suva, but many travellers base themselves in Nadi near the airport. From there they head out to the resort islands.
The highest rates are at resorts on private islands, including around Yasawa, and on Denarau Island. The cheapest stays are in Lautoka and at budget hotels in Suva.
Citizens of around 50 countries can enter without a visa, including the USA, Australia and New Zealand. Others need to arrange a visa before arrival. The exact rules depend on your citizenship.
