Book a transferBelize is a small country on the east coast of Central America, yet it offers coral reefs, islands, jungle and Maya ruins. Most travellers split their time between the atoll beaches and the mainland interior. We list 915 properties across 56 cities: from budget hostels and island resorts to 5-star hotels. Below you will find indicative prices, destinations, season tips and transport notes.
The price depends on the standard, the place and the dates. The table shows indicative nightly rates for a double room. The cheapest month is usually July, in the rainy season, while December and the peak of the dry season are the priciest. Booking ahead usually brings better rates.

Beyond the room, daily costs are moderate. A simple meal is about BZD 5 (approx. USD 2.50), a restaurant lunch about BZD 20 (approx. USD 10) and a transport ticket about BZD 2. The Belize dollar is fixed to the US dollar at 2 to 1, and US dollars circulate widely. Large hotels and attractions take cards, while cash is handy in smaller places.
The dry season runs from November to April and is the best time for outdoor activities, but it is also the price peak, especially in December. The rainy season from June to October is cheaper, with July often the cheapest month. Rain often falls in short afternoon bursts, so travel is still possible then. The hurricane season falls in late summer and early autumn.
International flights land at Philip S. W. Goldson Airport near Belize City, with direct routes from Miami, Houston and Newark among others. You can also arrive by bus or car from Mexico (via Chetumal) and Guatemala. Buses run across the country and there are domestic flights (Maya Island Air and Tropic Air) to the islands. On the atolls, water taxis are the easiest way around, usually running from morning to early evening. You can also rent a car, though most have a manual gearbox.
A few recognisable properties from different places for reference:
Prices are usually lowest in the rainy season, with July often the cheapest month. December and the height of the dry season tend to be the most expensive. Booking ahead usually helps you find a better rate.
The most searched destination is the island of Caye Caulker. San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, the main base for reef diving, is also very popular.
The highest rates are on the Placencia peninsula and in the island resorts. The cheapest stays are in Corozal by the Mexican border and outside the dry season.
Travellers from many countries, including the EU and the US, enter Belize without a visa. Others must obtain a visa before arrival. The exact rules depend on your citizenship, and a valid passport is required.
Large hotels and main attractions take cards. Cash is handy in smaller places and on the islands. The Belize dollar is fixed to the US dollar at 2 to 1, and US dollars are widely accepted.
