The best time is May to November, when the weather is stable and there is more to do. August is festival season, so expect crowds. The cheapest month for a room is December, while February is the most expensive. The rainy season runs from December to March, which can be a plus at the Salar de Uyuni, when the salt flat reflects the sky like a mirror.
The country is served by three main airports, in La Paz, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz, where most flights from Europe land. You can enter by road from Brazil, Peru, Argentina and Chile, and international buses are frequent. Within the country you mostly travel by bus and local minibuses (micros and trufis), as well as by train on selected routes. Low-cost domestic flights link the larger cities.
