Aruba is mainly about beaches and the water, but it also has intimate historic sights.
A meal at a cheaper restaurant is about 13 dollars per person. Cards are widely accepted in hotels and shops, but it is worth carrying cash for small purchases. The US dollar is widely accepted on the island alongside the Aruban florin. An Arubus ticket costs about 2 dollars, with frequent services.
Aruba has a warm tropical climate year-round, with an average of about 28 degrees. Some rain falls from October to December, with slightly higher temperatures from January to March. The peak tourist season is in winter, when prices are highest. The island lies outside the main hurricane belt.
International flights land at Queen Beatrix Airport, with KLM from Europe and American, Delta and JetBlue from the US. Cruise ships also call at the port in Oranjestad. Around Aruba the easiest way is the Arubus buses, which link Oranjestad with the hotel areas, run every 10 to 20 minutes and stop in front of the properties. You can rent a car at the airport, and the roads are in good condition.
