Hotels in Abuja: prices and the best time to book
Abuja is Nigeria's purpose-built capital, a city of wide avenues, modern architecture and government districts. The skyline is dominated by Aso Rock, a 400-metre granite monolith, while the centre holds the National Mosque, the National Christian Centre and the green Millennium Park. People stay here mostly for work and while passing through the country, but there is plenty to see too: Jabi Lake with its waterside mall, a children's park and zoo, and craft markets. Prices depend above all on the district, the standard and the events calendar. This list holds 728 properties, from guest houses and cheap rooms to business hotels and luxury addresses by the park. Below you will find the dates when rates drop, prices by property type and specific addresses with prices.
When booking in Abuja costs the least
It is cheaper and quieter in the rainy season and off-peak, roughly from June to August, when fewer guests come to the city. Sightseeing is nicest, though, in the dry season, from November to March, when it is warm and dry with low humidity, although rates can be higher then. In spring, at the start of the rainy season, and around big events, prices can jump sharply. Across the week, in a city driven by government and business, weekends usually work out cheaper, while it is priciest at the start of the week, on Monday and Tuesday. Guests stay several nights on average here, often longer than in a tourist city, as Abuja is most often a work trip or a base for business in the capital. For the dry season and event dates it pays to book ahead.
What a night costs by property type
Abuja has both guest houses and cheap rooms and business hotels and luxury addresses by Millennium Park. Guest houses and simple rooms are the cheapest, while a five-star hotel in the government area costs the most. Indicative nightly rates for two, outside peak and big events:
| Property type | Indicative price per night (from) |
| Guest house or cheap room | from approx. NGN 20,000 |
| 3-star hotel | from approx. NGN 50,000 |
| 4-star hotel | from approx. NGN 115,000 |
| 5-star and luxury hotel | from approx. NGN 305,000 |
Indicative rates for a double room, outside peak and big events, in naira. Around conferences and events the same properties can be much dearer, so check the real amount for your dates in the search above.
Where to stay in Abuja
For a first visit the handiest bases are Maitama or Wuse II. Maitama is the quieter, elegant district with embassies and upscale hotels, close to Millennium Park. Wuse and Wuse II are the commercial and business centre, with restaurants, shops and nightlife. By Jabi Lake, next to the Jabi Lake Mall, you will find accommodation near the shopping, greenery and lakeside walks. Families with children favour the quiet, residential Asokoro and the area around the National Children's Park and Zoo. People here on business pick the Central Business District, near the ministries, embassies and company headquarters. For sightseeing there are Aso Rock with its trails, the National Mosque, the National Assembly and Millennium Park, and you get around by taxi, a ride-hailing app or a hired car, as Abuja has no developed public transport. The Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport lies just outside the city, and many hotels offer a transfer.

When Abuja gets expensive

It can also be dearer in the dry season, from November to March, when the weather is at its nicest and more guests arrive. It is cheaper and quieter in the rainy season and off-peak, roughly from June to August. Across the week, it is priciest at the start of the week, on Monday and Tuesday, when business traffic is heaviest, while weekends usually work out cheaper. Whatever the season, it is worth comparing several dates, as the gap between districts and standards can be large.
